Another great exchange rec'd

Yet again, another wonderful mail day for me. My 2nd wish from the Make A Wish exchange board arrived today from Lisa in Australia. I wished for a flat-fold in any design, i haven't made any flat folds and wanted to see one up close and personal. Lisa has outdone herself! It is gorgeous! It is a Lizzie Kate Christmas design and absolutely adorable!

Thank you again Lisa, i am just tickled pink!!!!

Exchanges rec'd for me

I have rec'd my first Make A Wish exchange from Terry. Terry stitched me a little quaker needlebook, my first needlebook. It is gorgeous! Terry did an awesome job on this, the stitching all around the outside is in beads. WOW! Thank you soooooo much Terry!!

I also rec'd my fair and square round #8 from Jeannie C. I like funky bright colors and Jeannie hit it right! I am currently stitching the border to make this into a biscournu. I LOVE it!

I finished up my second Make A Wish to send out to Carolyn but can't show a pic yet!

That's all for today!

What a week......

Well, last weekend my hubby and I spent a long needed weekend away up north in Flagstaff in our friend's very nice cabin. He worked a little on the cabin, I stitched, he had 2 mornings of his Archery Shoot, I stitched, you get the idea. We rode the quad around the woods looking for animals and saw a couple hundred Elk (girls) only a couple boys and a bunch of babies. That was pretty cool to hear them calling out in the wild. Then we had to come home to reality.

We come home to reality only to find out, later Sunday night that our oldest daughter had a seizure Sat. night and didn't go to the hospital. Well noone that was with her took her either (including her dad). Heads rolled for that one. so first thing Monday am i took her to the dr and off to the ER we went for 12 hours. They admitted her after doing lots of tests and more needed to find out what happened. She was finally released on Thursday afternoon but we are still waiting on 2 very important tests to come back. Going to the neurologist this week to get results that are possibly MS (which my mother and myself both have). I am hoping this isn't it but then with the other possibilites out there, this is probably the best one to have (not that it is good but the others are worse and we know this disease). Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

On a lighter note, i have a few finishes that i can share with you all. FINALLY, i am posting the fair & square summer round I sent to Sue W., this was my favorite one to stitch so far. It is Summer Breeze by Brittercup Designs that i tweaked around a little to make it fit to 4x4. Also the other pic are my squares from Sue W. the watermelon, that i really like and am deciding on how to finish it.

I have also finished another "little" wip called Love Letters by The Chocolate Cat (it is a freebie on their site). I stitched this one using a variegated red by Anchor and on silkweaker Solo.

This one is by Trail Creek Farm called "I'd Turn Back" for halloween and was a 2 night stitch. I stitched it using DMC and on SMF called Slimy Limey (you can't tell how green it is in the pic, bad lighting). I used red metallic braid for the eye instead of the red bead and stitched a Rhodes stitch for it, it really shines and pops out.

And this last little little one is by JBW designs called Christmas Motif Sampler II on white evenweave using Crescent Colours Spinach. I stitched this one over 1.

Well, school starts tomorrow for the kids. WOOHOO!! Caitie starts her senior year with only 2 classes left and graduates early in December and just started back up in club softball. Dustin is a freshmen and is excited to start high school and teh soccer season (outside of school) starts up in a couple weeks. Josh is also a freshmen but he started school last week (lives with his mom) and is liking HS so far. And of course I cannot forget my nephew, Matthew, he is starting kindergarten tomorrow so my days will be alot quieter with just my niece Allison (2) and myself home.

I do have a couple other finishes but cannot share them until they reach their destinations, so you will have to wait. Have a great week!!!

Finally some finishes to share

Well, i have been going through my WIP's and trying to finish some off before starting any new projects besides my exchanges. I have finished Spooky Wrap by Pine Mountain Pillows, Reindeer Sampler by Heart in Hand and Love Letters by The Chocolate Cat (don't have a pic of this one yet). That's 3 little ones out of the way, i really need to start "finishing" alot of these pieces i have in my closet, I am really afraid to go take another look at my finished pieces and count them. OY!

I see that Edgar has received his exchange from me from the Make a Wish board. This was my first wish to grant and was so much fun stitching for him. He asked for something quaker in any finish with dark dank colors. I stitched Master Quaker Silhoutte by Homespun Elegance for him using 32ct Meadlowlark linen by BOAF, Thread Gatherer's Silk N Thread - Cypress Umber and WDW in Indian Summer. I finished it into a biscournu (my absolute favorite finish).Edgar is the master of quakers, he stitches so many of them i thought this was appropriate for him. And now i want to stitch one for myself using the female version.

Well, Michele W. (link on the side, i don't know how to do the linkie thing yet) has nominated my blog for Kreativ Blogger and thank her very much. Michele and I met a couple years ago at the PALS stitching retreat in Myrtle Beach SC and have become close since then. I cannot wait until Oct for the retreat again to see Michele and everyone else that are just the most wonderful people/stitchers you will ever meet. Michele does some great stitching, great listening and overall just a wonderful person and friend.

Now I need to pick my 5 nominees with the following rules ...
1. The winner may put the logo on her blog.
2. Put a link to the person you got the award from.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Put links to the blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

Now here is the hard part picking only 5 blogs, but here we go.

1. Edgar
2. Barb
3. Malinda
4. Vonna
5. Shelleen

It's hot here in AZ and humid and monsoon season, eventhough we haven't seen too many monsoons on our side of town. Just trying to stay inside in the AC and stay cool. DH and I will be going up to Flagstaff next weekend staying at a friend's cabin for a few days, no kids. Just a nice relaxing weekend with the 2 of us. He has a 3D archery shoot (annual thing) one morning, other than that i will be stitching all weekend while we are there.

The kids will be going back to school on August 11 (WOOHOO) I love when summer starts but it's nice when school starts back up too. LOL They are getting cabin fever and need to get back to school. Dustin & Josh will be freshmen this year and Caitie will be a Senior graduating in December if she sticks to her plan, then start junior college in January for one semester. Then she is planning on going to UofA next year to go through their medical program to become a doctor. Brianna is in her 2nd year at a junior colleg this year.

well, that's all for now. have a great weekend!

LHN scissor fob for myself

Well, on my birthday last week i decided to stitch for myself all day. So i chose to make a small scissor fob using "Patience" thread pack chart from LHN. I only used a little portion of it and stitched it over one. I really really LOVE how it turned out and it is soooo small. But i might think about doing some other patterns over 1 now and not just a motif or two. LOL I also finished up a quilt square for Cole's Quilts that is long overdue. So I do have 2 pics to share of my stitching.

All my current stitching is for exchanges so I cannot share as of yet, but soon. I am only working on exchanges, etc this weekend (today through finished).

Doug and I had a great time at our 40th birthday party, lots of friends, family, great food, drinks, lots and lots of drinks. OY! We stayed at our friends house (where the party was held) for the night which was a very good thing. Lets just say that we had lots to drink(which doesn't happen with me very often), there was a bucket (at the end of the night) and i have a black eye. It's not a proud moment in my life, but, well, you only turn 40 once. LOL Oh well, it's getting better, changing colors everyday. hanging head in shame

Here is Doug and I when they brought out the cheesecakes and cherries jubilee (i think)

It's been a very very rainy night here in AZ and i love it. Our backyard of course is now flooded, but should be dry by tomorrow night when it should start again. It's Monsoon season.

40 years ago today..............

there were "2" little ones born and just destined to meet and get married. Born on July 3, 1968, Karen weighed in at 8lbs 6 1/4 oz in Elizabeth NJ while in Ohio, 3 months premature, Doug was born weighing in at 4lbs 8oz. We met each other on a softball team, but actually by playing darts at the bar after the game. LOL We were both hitting "3's" which we didn't need and said it was a good number since it was my birthday, in stereo. LOL we didn't believe each other and showed our driver's licenses and low and behold we were born on the same day, same year. I am 8 hours older than Doug, so of course i hear about that all the time, I am 40 first, so i robbed the cradle. LOL

Here are a couple pics of pics so they didn't turn out that well, but i will post them anyways and hope for the best. (taking pics of pics doesn't seem to work out well and scanned pics just don't post well here).

Round Robin finishes

HI All, well i have just a couple smallish finishes that are for a RR i am in. I finished up Ruth's RR over the weekend and since I already had Chris's in my possession i stitched hers up real quick in one night. So these are off in the mail to the next person to stitch (Karen watch your mailbox).

Ruth's RR, Faith by LHN

Chris's RR, Oct Heart by Sweetheart Tree

I am stitching on a couple exchanges so can't share pics of those yet. Just sweating our butts off here in AZ and now it is getting humid to add to the 115 degree weather. it's just plain icky!
